A company affiliated with the founder of the popular Eastern Standard restaurant in Boston’s Kenmore Square has signed a lease at the Athenahealth campus in Watertown, which recently received approval to add an outdoor beer garden.
Athenahealth, an electronic health records company, is updating its 760,000-square-foot campus as an attraction to its growing workforce. The company was granted $9.5 million in state economic development tax credits in 2013, when it agreed to increase the headcount at the Arsenal Street complex to 3,000.
Boilerplate LLC of Winchester signed a two-year lease on March 27 with Athena Arsenal LLC for 4,424 square feet of outdoor space and a 658-square-foot indoor mezzanine in building 312. In February, the Watertown planning board approved a beer garden-style restaurant at the former Watertown Savings Bank branch location.
Boilerplate LLC lists Eastern Standard founder Garrett Harker and General Manager Andrew Holden as officers. Harker could not be reached for comment, and Athenahealth spokeswoman Holly Spring said no details were being released this week.
Athenahealth CEO Jonathan Bush also is partnering with Boston-based Boylston Properties on repositioning of the neighboring Arsenal Project mall, which they acquired in 2013. The plans would convert the 32-year-old enclosed mall into an open-air retail complex.
