Erland Construction has completed a new mixed-use residential development in downtown Waltham.

The Merc, named after the historic mercantile building that once stood on the same corner of Moody and Main streets, was built with materials to replicate the façade of the original structure, with similar masonry details and large windows.

The complex is comprised of three 5-story buildings, containing 269 apartments. The Merc also has a 2-story parking garage, with 300 spaces available underground and 92 spots above-ground, and retail space on the first floors of two of the buildings. The Merc also includes a wellness/fitness center and sky deck. The complex is stretched across 436,000 square feet of space on a 4.5-acre site.

In addition to Northland Investment Corp. and Erland, Stantec was the architect who completed the team for this project.
