The 350,000-square-foot former Simond Saw factory in Fitchburg will be repositioned by the new owners following a $5.6 million sale.
Simonds International sold the 26-acre property including its former office, manufacturing and warehouse space to 135 Intervale LLC, an affiliate of Boston-based CFI Partners.
The new owners plan to install new LED lighting and flooring, according to an announcement by The Stubblebine Co./CORFAC International, which represented the buyer and seller.
Simonds was occupying less than a third of the facility when it announced the factory’s closure in October.
“The asset will be re-positioned and leased to high caliber tenants. We already have significant tenant interest,” President David Stubblebine said in a statement.
The facility was completed in 1947 and renovated in 1965, and is equipped with a 1.8-megawatt cogeneration plant installed in 2010.
