A former bank officer with Blue Hills Bank was sentenced yesterday to four months in prison for his role in a loan scheme involving a Chicopee-based business.

Anthony Riccitelli, 60, of Somerset, pleaded guilty in September 2019 to one count of participation in a loan with a financial institution.

Riccitelli admitted that he loaned $80,000 to Diecast Connections Co. Inc., a Chicopee-based manufacturing business, at the same time that he served as a bank officer for Blue Hills Bank. Riccitelli proposed that Blue Hills Bank enter into a $4.2 million loan package with Diecast without disclosing to the bank the $80,000 in private loans he had made to Diecast.

Shortly after the loan closed, Riccitelli received $80,000 of the loan proceeds, unbeknownst to Blue Hills Bank.

The president of Diecast, Beth Zastawny, 53, of Ludlow, was also sentenced this week. Zastawny, who had pleaded guilty in Springfield federal court in May 2019 to one count of bank fraud and three counts of money laundering, was sentenced to one day in prison and three years of supervised release, including a year of home confinement.
