A Springfield business is proposing to convert empty retail space at a Springfield mall to a marijuana growing and selling complex.

Springfield-based Cannaworld Inc. hopes to open a recreational marijuana store on the first floor of the Eastfield Mall’s former Macy’s building, according to MassLive. The second floor will house a cultivation and manufacturing facility. The mall’s manager appears positively disposed to the idea.

“We think this particular use would help us attract other alternative health practitioners into those proposed office spaces, like chiropractic, yoga and holistic health care providers,” the mall’s co-property manager Nicole Sweeny told the paper.
