In buying a five-year-old Newburyport brokerage, Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty has become the latest Massachusetts brokerage working across the state line in New Hampshire.

Fruh Realty’s 16 agents covered the North Shore and southeastern New Hampshire from their 19 Green St. office in the town’s historic downtown. The deal adds GSIR’s 27th office statewide and the second on the North Shore, after its existing Manchester-by-the-Sea office.

“In welcoming Kevin, Alison and their team to our firm, we unite their esteemed local reputation with Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty’s worldwide recognition and access to highly qualified global clientele, ensuring our clients receive every advantage,” GSIR CEO Colleen Barry said in a statement. “Our expansion on Cape Ann and into New Hampshire is a significant achievement for our firm and it is our privilege to join the wonderful Newburyport community.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but in its announcement, GSIR said Fruh Realty co-founder Kevin Fruh “will continue to practice real estate and be an integral part of the Newburyport office”

“We are proud of our accomplishments and our outstanding team of professionals, but in today’s fast-moving world of real estate, it is crucial to be aware of every opportunity to better serve our agents and clients,” Fruh said in a statement. “Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty is part of a global brand, but at its core, it’s a family business of experts in their local markets. This affiliation strengthens our position in key feeder markets and represents the combination of two trusted companies rooted in exceptional client service.”

GSIR claimed 2,900 clients and $3.6 billion in sales volume in 2022, along with a $1.19 Million average sale price, which it says is the highest of the top five firms in Massachusetts.
