Gulf Oil LP has leased 36,000 square feet of office space at 80 William St. in Wellesley and is relocating its headquarters from Framingham this month.

JLL’s Tom Kent and Brendan Cohn represented the oil company in the lease transaction with owner John Hancock Real Estate.

In a statement, Gulf’s CEO Jerry Ashcroft said the company selected the property because of its proximity to transportation routes and amenities. Cumberland Farms Inc. sold its Gulf Oil subsidiary to ArcLight Capital Partners in late 2015.

John Hancock acquired 80 William St. in 2013 as part of a larger portfolio totaling $237 million. The property is currently assessed at $21 million.
