After restoring an 18th-century Mattapan farm, Historic Boston Inc. completed its sale to an urban farming organization.

The Fowler Clark Epstein Farm at 487 Norfolk Ave. will become the Urban Farm Institute of Boston’s new headquarters. The purchase price was $1.4 million.

HBI acquired the dilapidated Fowler Clark Epstein Farm in 2015 and raised nearly $2 million from donors to restore the property, which includes a 1786 house and 1860s carriage barn. The project created classrooms, offices, a produce processing center, teaching kitchen, greenhouse and demonstration farm beds

UFI occupied and managed the property as a tenant for the last five years to comply with federal historic tax credit rules related to the redevelopment.

The Trust for Public Land and North Bennet Street School partnered with HBI on the project.
