Hiring software startup Workable has leased 10,130 square feet on the fourth floor at 33-41 Farnsworth St. in Boston’s Fort Point.

The company is expanding out of WeWork’s co-working space at 51 Melcher St. to the Clarion Partners-owned Fort Point building, which recently leased 60,430 square feet on four floors to General Electric for its temporary headquarters as it relocates from Fairfield, Connecticut in June.

Workable chose Boston for its first U.S. location because of the shorter travel time to Europe and more affordable rents than other East Coast markets, said Ben Sutton, a vice president with NAI Hunneman.

Workable has raised $34 million in venture capital financing since its founding in 2012, including $27 million in series B funding from Balderton Capital last year. The company was founded in 2013 as a five-person team based in Athens and later opened offices in London and WeWork in Boston.

“As we got to know the city better and got networked, we found we liked the location and wanted to stay close by,” spokesman Daniel Howden said. “There’s a community of smart startups and proximity to South Station in its favor.”

Clarion Partners LLC acquired the Farnsworth building in 2012 as part of a six-building, 407,458-square-foot office portfolio.
