What: 380 Stuart St. office tower
Where: Boston
Owner: Skanska USA Commercial Development

Skanska is casting a vote of confidence in the Back Bay office market with plans to develop a 26-story tower at 380 Stuart St.

John Hancock Insurance Co. received approval in September 2018 for a 625,000 square foot office building at the property, but subsequently reconfigured its local office space and sold the property to Skanska in December for $177 million.

The proposed new building will include a double-height lobby with grand staircase and glass facade facing Stuart Street. The project also will create a new connection between Stuart to Stanhope streets on the western side of the building, next to a ground-floor retail space.

They Said It:

“At the city scale, the building’s forward-thinking bold form will add a dynamic new element to Boston’s skyline with the clear importance of outdoor space articulated by the terraces as they make their way up the tower.”
