• The Boston Celtics and NB Development Group broke ground last October on the Boston Celtics’ 71,000-square-foot new practice and training facility at Boston Landing. The complex scheduled to open in spring 2018 also will include two floors of office and lab space totaling 83,500 square feet and 5,700 square feet of retail space.
• The practice facility will be cantilevered at a height of 55 feet with a 40-foot-high glass wall giving a view of the basketball courts from the Massachusetts Turnpike.
• The lease transaction was named the 2016 “Most Creative Deal” by the Commercial Brokers Association at the organization’s annual achievement awards event.
• Transwestern Partners Steve Purpura and Chris McCauley represented NB Development Group, working with the owner’s internal real estate team of Jim Halliday and Erin Harvey. Transwestern Partners Michael Joyce and Tom Ashe represented the Celtics. Transwestern Consulting Group’s Chris Skeffington and Andrew Stone arranged a $76.35-million construction and permanent financing loan with East Boston Savings Bank.
