An afterschool program that serves more than 1,500 students each year will double its capacity after completion of a building project designed by architects Margulies Perruzzi.
Boston Scores partners with Boston Public Schools to provide students in grades K-12 with after-school soccer and enrichment programs. The nonprofit is expanding beyond its traditional scope, adding community-based programs including coaches’ training.
The first phase of the project included renovations to the 39,320-square-foot building on Byron Street that Boston Scores shares with the Salesian Boys and Girls Club of East Boston after relocating from Jamaica Plain. Boston Scores occupies a new 2,850-square-foot office, youth program and conference room space for coach training. The Salesian Boys and Girls Club will continue to occupy the first two floors and a portion of the third floor.
The project’s second phase is scheduled for completion in spring 2024 and will include a new 2,025-square-foot building along with a multi-field soccer field complex, playground and an outdoor classroom.
They Said It:
“The redesigned headquarters will not only serve as a hub for our impactful programs but also stand as a symbol of our unwavering dedication to nurturing the potential of the next generation.”
