What: Cambridge Data Center renovations
Where: 300 Bent St., Cambridge
Owner: CEM Realty Trust
Built: 1948

A renovation project will create a new accessible lobby at the primary New England data centers for Verizon and Lumen Technologies.

Nauset Construction recently began the third and final phase of renovations to the 90,000-square-foot building, including demolition and excavation to create a new grade-level lobby. Basement mechanical and electrical systems are being removed and upgraded to create 8,000 square feet of future tenant space.

An earlier phase reinforced and clad the concrete exterior with new siding panels and replaced ribbon windows with storefront windows.

Located in Kendall Square, 300 Bent St. originally was completed in 1948 as an industrial building. Khalsa Design Inc. was selected as architect for the renovation project.

They Said It:

“It is a rare opportunity to have such an expansive canvas to work with. KDI enjoyed the collaborative design process with the owner and Nauset Construction, especially developing the playful gradient pattern that fills out the 200-by-48-foot facade of this structure.”
