Foundation Medicine will consolidate its Greater Boston workforce at a new build-to-suit office and lab tower on parcel P in Boston’s Seaport District. 

The Cambridge-based cancer researchers will relocate more than 1,100 Massachusetts employees to the 16-story, 646,000-square-foot tower, which is scheduled to break ground this year and open in 2022. Foundation Medicine will occupy 580,000 square feet, the biggest lease in the Seaport since Vertex Pharmaceuticals opened its 1.1-million-square-foot headquarters on the Fan Pier in 2014.  

400 Summer St. is designed by New York-based architects Morris Adjmi with architects of record Stantec. The site borders the elevated section of Summer Street, and will include a new public staircase connecting to the Congress Street level.
