What: Massachusetts State Police Lower Basin Barracks
Where: 250 Leverett Circle, Boston
Owner: Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Built: 2023

A project designed by Boston-based Finegold Alexander Architects updated a property along the Charles River to accommodate the consolidation of the Massachusetts State Police Troop H’s Brighton and Lower Basin barracks.

The project renovated and expanded the Lower Basin barracks and expanded its footprint. The building was originally constructed in 1908 to serve the Metropolitan District Police and had been occupied by the State Police since 1992.

While preserving the historic structure, the project replaced outdated building systems with an all-electric HVAC system, improved daylighting and added public park space at the gateway to the Esplanade.

They Said It:

“We are proud to have played a role in creating a sustainable and state-of-the-art facility that will serve the Boston community for years to come.”
