Illinois insurer Zurich in North America, a subsidiary of Zurich Financial Services Group, has appointed Marsh U.S. Consumer, a service of Seabury & Smith Inc., the new administrator for its programs and direct markets lawyers’ professional liability program in Massachusetts and seven other states.

Marsh will be the administrator for attorneys in Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

"Like Zurich, Marsh has an appreciation of the many issues lawyers face during these uncertain economic times," Damiano Servidio, head of professional liability for Zurich’s Programs & Direct Markets business unit, said in a statement. "Even the best attorneys can make mistakes, and all attorneys are subject to unjustified or frivolous claims made against them," Servidio said. "Attorneys covered under Zurich’s professional liability program will have an opportunity to have a team of experienced claims specialists who can help handle a difficult situation with a client."

"Marsh is pleased to be working with Zurich and looks forward to delivering superior service to Zurich and its participating attorneys for many years to come," said Roy S. Lyons, managing director of Marsh.
