The $21.5 million gut renovation of the Phillips Academy Paresky Dining Commons in Andover has been completed.

The 78-year-old dining hall has undergone significant upgrades to serve future generations.

The team of Phillips Academy, Milford general contractor Consigli Construction Co. and Boston-based Schwartz/Silver Architects faced the challenge of preserving the building’s historic features while incorporating sustainable upgrades allowing the facility to pursue LEED certification for commercial interiors from the U.S. Green Building Council, according to Consigli.

The team preserved the building’s original details, including Georgian Style paneling, chandeliers and murals, which all had to be protected throughout construction. The team also restored the Alabama limestone walls in the foyer and stairways, Consigli said.
