A company that provides consulting and production services for early-stage biotechs has signed a lease for a flex building across Route 128 from the Burlington Mall.

Azzur Group plans to build a 25,000-square-foot Current Good Manufacturing Practice-compliant production space in a single-story flex building at 60 Blanchard Road, Nordblom said in an announcement, with the ability to occupy up to 50,300 square feet of space in the property by summer 2021.

Azzur’s facility is aimed at accelerating early-phase manufacturing capabilities, Nordblom said. The company signed a 12-year lease for the property

Nordblom, in partnership with Alcion Ventures, acquired the Blanchard Road building just last fall. The duo were represented by Newmark Knight Frank and the tenant was represented by The Stevens Group.

“Nordblom and the team executed quickly on the vision for re-positioning and leasing the property, which will result in a high-quality life science asset,” Alcion partner Kris Galletta said in a statement.

Nordblom said the company has executed over 200,000 square feet of life science and advanced medical technology leases in Burlington so far this year Transactions include an 18-month lease extension for 44,740 square feet of office space at its nearby Network Drive development and a renewed an expanded lease of 109,354 square feet at Northwest Park for LeMaitre Vascular.

“Burlington is quietly undergoing a notable lab and biotechnology transformation,” Nordblom Senior Vice President Adele Olivier said in a statement. “We are proximate to the lab clusters in Lexington and Bedford and offer an unrivaled amenity rich, mixed-use environment that attracts highly skilled talent. It is not surprising that the life science tenant roster continues to grow in Burlington.”
