Quincy-based Arbella Insurance Group has donated a total of $3 million to Boston College Law School, which will establish the Francis X. Bellotti Loan Repayment and Forgiveness Program.
The program is named in honor of Arbella Insurance Group founder and vice chairman Frank Bellotti, a 1952 alumnus, according to a statement. The Arbella Insurance Group Charitable Foundation donated $2 million and associates of Arbella and Bellotti contributed $1 million.
In order for student to be eligible for the loan repayment and forgiveness program, they must earn $57,000 or less working in direct legal services to the poor, nonprofit law or government agencies.
"It is a great honor to have my name associated with this program at my law school," said Bellotti. "It not only benefits recipients, it benefits all of us, helping to create an entire group of young people committed to making people’s lives better."
