A 158-room hotel operated by Marriott’s Autograph Collection brand is welcoming its first guests this week at Somerville’s Assembly Row.

The Row Hotel at Assembly Row is the second Autograph Collection property in Massachusetts, joining the Envoy Hotel in Boston’s Seaport District, which opened in 2015. Created in 2010, the format which has 150 properties worldwide is Marriott’s attempt to create an independent, boutique feel for properties in and around urban centers.

Managed by Colwen Hotels of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the Somerville property pays homage to the property’s Ford Motor Co. factory past with auto gears mounted on guest room walls and glass prism sculptures with reclaimed automotive parts in the lobby. The Assembly and Ford event rooms have a combined capacity for up to 300 guests.

Colwen Hotels operates 25 hotels in the Northeast.
