MassDevelopment and the Baker-Polito Administration have opened a $2.5 million funding round for the Site Readiness Program, which provides grants to municipalities and others for uses like strategic land acquisition, feasibility studies, master planning, environmental permitting and site improvements.

This is the third round of grants; the first two rounds awarded $3.4 million to 26 projects, furthering development potential for 1,885 acres in the state, MassDevelopment said in a statement.

“The Site Readiness Program provides communities with the resources they need to leverage strategic sites to attract private investment, drive development and job creation across the Commonwealth,” Gov. Charlie Baker said in a statement.

The program aims to boost the Commonwealth’s inventory of large, development-ready sites and have in the past targeted high-potential sites with easy access to highways, substantial acreage or are in priority locations for development, MassDevelopment said in a statement.
