MetLife Investment Management has acquired the Needham headquarters of appliance maker SharkNinja from the original developers, Normandy Real Estate Partners and Westbrook Partners, for $96.5 million.

The 247,542-square-foot open-format office complex at 89 A St. is considered one of the success stories of the N2 Innovation District, a joint effort by Needham and Newton to bolster job growth in a 500-acre section of the Route 128 corridor. SharkNinja consolidated the workspaces for 400 corporate employees into the Sasaki-designed building in mid-2017.

Normandy acquired the 41-acre former Needham Crossing Business Park in 2014 for $54.5 million and lured the TripAdvisor headquarters from Newton to a new 281,000-square-foot office building it developed at 400 First St. Last year, Needham voters approved tax incentives for NBC/Universal’s new 165,000-square-foot headquarters on B Street in a redevelopment of a former General Dynamics R&D facility on B Street.

Newmark Knight Frank’s Boston-based capital markets team represented the seller and procured the buyer in last week’s transaction.
