Users of the state’s largest MLS website now have a new tool at their disposal for real estate agents marketing apartments for rent.

MLS PIN announced last week that Somerville-based Rental Beast’s “Apply Now” tool has been integrated into its listings service, giving apartment listing agents what Rental Beast describes as a turnkey tool that lets prospective renters submit applications directly from a listing. Automated emails give the agent real-time notifications when the application has been submitted and reviewed by a third-party service contracted by Rental Beast, including a soft pull of the applicant’s credit score and a summary of their eviction history and background information, where applicable. The tool is Fair Credit Reporting Act compliant, Rental Beast said in a statement. In an FAQ posted on its website, the typical application fee using Apply Now is $49, paid by each prospective renter.

The deal between MLS PIN and Rental Beast also gives MLS PIN users limited access to Rental Beast’s large database of verified rental listings, all of which Rental Beast said are sourced directly from property owners and managers, and unavailable on any MLS. Agents who want to access those full listings must still sign up for Rental Beast’s paid “Pro” accounts, which also allows them to syndicate their Rental Beast listings to Facebook Marketplace and Realtor.com.

“Working with rentals is a crucial part of agents’ businesses, especially in New England, and even more so considering the scarcity of for-sale properties. Not only are we pleased to be working with one of the largest and most respected MLSs in the country, we’re also excited to engage more deeply with real estate professionals in our own back yard,” Ishay Grinberg, founder and CEO of Rental Beast, said in a statement. “Apply Now makes it easier to work build rentals into an agent’s business. The application is 100 percent FCRA-compliant, easy to use, and keeps the agent in control of each transaction.”

The integration also gives MLS PIN users access to Rental Beast’s on-demand professional development platform, Rental Beast University, which it says is designed to help agents of all experience levels learn how to integrate rental real estate into their business.

“Rental Beast’s Apply Now is the latest in MLS PIN’s ongoing effort to give our customers every competitive edge. Apply Now helps MLS PIN’s clients serve an often-overlooked market, allowing them to compile a database of future home-buying clients,” Kathy Condon, CEO of MLS PIN, said in a statement. “In the end, it’s all about finding homes and satisfying customers.”
