A Newton developer is seeking to expand the scale of housing at the former Table Talk Pies headquarters in Worcester with a proposal to add 58 apartments to the former bakery headquarters.

A 3-story, 45,084-square-foot addition would be added to the 153 Green St. building, according to an updated redevelopment plan submitted by the new owner.

Boston Capital Development led the initial phase of the 4-acre former bakery site redevelopment in Worcester’s Canal District with an 81-unit income-restricted apartment building in the first phase of the project.

Boston Capital Development previously had proposed 15 apartments in an expansion of the 153 Green St. building.

The updated plans call for 51 one-bedroom and a pair of two-bedroom units. The project is subject to site plan approval by the Worcester Planning Board.

153 Green Street LLC, a corporation registered to Newton developer Anthony Rossi, acquired the 0.4-acre property April 27 for 734,000, according to a Worcester County deed.

Rossi’s development activity in Worcester includes such adaptive reuse projects as the Walker Lofts, a 157-unit factory-to-housing conversion that opened in 2022.

In January, MassDevelopment issued a $20 million bond for the initial affordable housing phase of the Table Talk redevelopment, which is scheduled for completion in February 2024. The project also is receiving low-income housing tax credits and subsidies from the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development.

Table Talk Pies relocated in 2022 to a new production facility at 58 Gardner St.
