Brookline-based Newman Properties has expanded its portfolio south of Boston with the purchase of seven buildings in Wareham and the village of Onset.

The $8.3 million transaction was financed by Norwood Bank. The portfolio includes 50 apartments and 12 commercial and office suites.

In a statement, CEO Matthew Newman said the company continues to seek multifamily and mixed-use acquisitions on the South Shore for value-add opportunities. The company and its affiliates own and manage over 500 residential units along with office and retail properties.
