A Newton developer is proposing the latest in a series of large-scale apartment projects in downtown Worcester.

Anthony Rossi is seeking approval from the Worcester Planning Board for the 6-story, 251-unit development at 8 Harvard St. Rossi’s 13 Sudbury Realty LLC proposes a 52,195-square-foot building on the nearly 1-acre parking lot.

Rossi recently converted the former Walker Shoe Factory on Water Street in Worcester into 62 apartments, which opened in early March.

And in February, Rossi’s firm obtained over $20 million in construction loans from Rockland Trust Co. for a three-building redevelopment on Sudbury and Harvard Streets. The project will include 157 apartments, a restaurant and food market.
