North Shore cities and towns may be part of the MBTA, and may be served by buses and Commuter Rail trains, but business leaders frustrated that these routes do not serve many office parks and other job centers are considering forming their own transit agency.

The North Shore Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors voted last week to explore how creating a North Shore Transportation Authority would work, the Gloucester Daily Times reported.

The imagined agency would be aimed at bridging the proverbial “last mile” between job centers and colleges and the MBTA’s current service to and from Boston and regional malls.
