Brookline-based Kaplan Construction has announced the completion of a renovation project in Norwood on behalf of Castle Island Brewing Co.
The craft beer startup leased the warehouse at 31 Astor Ave. in April and reopened it to the public last month upon completion of the $600,000 renovation by Kaplan.
A 3,000-square-foot section of concrete floor was removed from the facility so that a new reinforced floor system with a urethane floor coating could be installed to support the 12 stainless steel tanks, which can each weigh up to 28,000 pounds when full of beer. Additionally, 4,000 linear feet of electrical conduit and 3,500 linear feet of mechanical piping were installed.
Kaplan’s project team included Parametrik Architectural Visualization of Manchester, New Hampshire, Dan Bonardi Consulting Engineers of Arlington and Fitzmeyer & Tocci Assoc. of Woburn for electrical and plumbing.
