Amid rising demand from grocers for cold storage space, a real estate partnership has acquired a 214,097-square-foot freezer warehouse portfolio in Middleborough.

The Seyon Group of Boston and San Francisco-based Berkeley Partners paid $26.8 million for 97 and 103 Wood St., a pair of class A freezer warehouses that are 100 percent leased to two tenants, for their first investment in the cold storage sector. Located on a 19.5-acre parcel, the facilities feature 28-to-30-foot ceiling heights and 28 loading docks.

The off-market transaction brings the Seyon-Berkeley partnership’s industrial portfolio to over 500,000 square feet in Greater Boston. The seller was Middleborough-based North East Refrigerated Terminals.

“Boston is one of the most underserved cold storage/freezer markets in the country and given the accelerated demand caused by the pandemic, we believe this investment will thrive because of the location and physical specs of the portfolio,” Seyon Group Managing Partner Andrew Iglowski said in a statement.
