Natalie Adelman Taub, one of the first women to helm a Boston construction firm, died on March 23, according to an obituary posted this weekend by Levine Chapels of Brookline.

The Boston Globe was the first to report her passing.

Taub was one of only six women in MIT’s class of 1950, and the only one to major in building engineering and construction, according to a 2010 profile in the MIT Technology Review.

A mere three years after graduating, she was running her own firm, N. J. Adelman Construction Co. Her firm specialized in projects in the $10 million to $20 million range, the profile noted. Headlines like “Tiny MIT Girl Bosses Malden Building Job” greeted her arrival on the construction scene.
