Dr. Matt King, head of the Rashi School (far right) shows invited guests construction progress on the new school in Dedham. The Rashi School, a Boston area reform Jewish day school, recently held a cornerstone dedication ceremony at the site of its new school in Dedham.

The school is relocating to the new Dedham campus, shared with Hebrew SeniorLife’s NewBridge on the Charles community.

The 82,000-square-foot school, designed by HMFH Architects Inc. is located on a 166-acre campus overlooking the Charles River.

The ceremony featured the dedication of two building cornerstones, presentation of items that will be buried in a time capsule, and an invitation by Rabbi Ellen Pildis, Rashi’s School Rabbi, for guests to write down thoughts, ideas, dreams and vision for Rashi. Messages penned by guests will be bound into a book and placed in the completed building, the architect said in a statement.

Construction began last winter, and the school is expected to be ready for the 2010-2011 academic year, according to HMFH Architects.

The project is being constructed by Boston-based Suffolk Construction. The project team also includes Daedalus Projects Inc., construction manager; Foley Buhl Roberts & Assoc., structural engineer; Zade Assoc., mechanical/electrical/plumbing engineer; and Stantec Inc., landscape architect, civil engineer and geotechnical engineer.
