MGM Resorts International, which operates a large casino in downtown Springfield, has reportedly struck a deal to take over management of the city’s Symphony Hall.

The city would pay MGM an initial fee of $110,000 in exchange for the company managing the venue through the end of the city’s fiscal year on June 30, MassLive.com reports.

The move “will help to bring higher quality and more frequent performances to Symphony Hall” and “have a synergistic effect,” the city’s chief administrative and financial officer told the site.
