A parking lot on Boston’s tony Newbury Street that was once overlooked by a mural featuring everyone from Bette Davis to Isabella Stuart Gardner could be the site of Back Bay’s next development.

The Boston Globe reported retail development specialists L3 Capital purchased 278 Dartmouth St. for $40 million earlier this week.

L3’s plans for the 0.23-acre lot on the corner of Darmouth and Newbury streets are currently unknown.
