Plumbers’ Supply Co. has opened new headquarters and a distribution center in New Bedford’s Far North End Business Park. A $12.6 million construction loan from Rockland Trust helped fund the project.

The Plumbers’ Supply building is located on a 45-acre plot in the industrial park. The new building has 175,000 square feet, including 20,000 square feet dedicated to Plumbers’ Supply Co.’s corporate headquarters and the remaining 155,000 square feet housing its warehouse. The proximity of the new building enabled the company to retain its employees, Plumbers’ Supply Principal Kevin Jones said in a statement, as well as create seven more jobs and have more flexibility for potential expansions.

“As we continue to grow the company, we are thinking proactively about our facility needs,” Jones said in a statement. “We have room to expand on this property so we can keep our roots right here in New Bedford.”

Rockland Trust President Gerry Nadeau and bank board chair Donna Abelli were among those who joined the Jones family and New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new building on Sept. 13.

“Rockland Trust is honored to participate in this milestone for Plumbers’ Supply Co., and we are excited to support their growth in the New Bedford area,” Nadeau said in a statement. “Partnering with businesses that are committed to their community is essential to Rockland Trust’s mission, and we wish Plumbers’ Supply many more years of success.”
