Rockland Trust has chosen a new regional executive to lead its commercial banking and overall business efforts in the area north of Boston.

The bank appointed Joe Wadlinger as a senior vice president and regional commercial lending executive. Wadlinger has three decades of sales and banking experience and was the executive vice president and chief lending officer for North Shore Bank before joining Rockland Trust.

“Joe’s deep understanding of the marketplace, passion for coaching, and experience developing and executing comprehensive business strategies will help us deepen our presence north of the city,” Jim Rizzo, chief commercial banking officer at Rockland Trust, said in a statement. “Under Joe’s wing, our talented customer-facing colleagues will introduce more individuals and businesses to our relationship-oriented banking services.”

Wadlinger was previously People’s United Bank’s senior vice president and head of commercial sales and business strategy for five years after being promoted from senior vice president and head of nonprofit and business banking. Before joining People’s, Wadlinger worked in senior commercial and small business roles at Citizens Bank.

“As a regional leader in commercial banking, Rockland Trust combines the offering of a large financial institution with the care and relationships of a community-oriented bank,” Wadlinger said in a statement. “I’m excited to join this passionate team to cement the organization further within the communities north of Boston.”
