Neighborworks Executive Director Robert Corley, Rockland Trust Co. President Gerry Nadeau, Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter, Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito and Rockland Trust Commercial Loan Officer and Neighborworks Board Chair David Kilnapp took part in a groundbreaking ceremony at the Sycamore on Main affordable housing complex in Brockton.

With lead financing from Rockland Trust Co., a Quincy-based nonprofit has broken ground on a 100 percent affordable housing project in Brockton.

Sycamore on Main will include 48 affordable units in a 5-story complex at 121 Main St.

Developer NeighborWorks Southern Mass of Quincy develops housing for low-income households, veterans and the disabled, and also provides homeowner assistance including education, financial coaching and foreclosure counseling. Rockland Trust acted as lead financier for the $13.8 million construction loan.

The project’s financing included $6.75 million in low-income housing tax credits from Hudson Housing Capital of New York and $6 million in state tax credits.
