The owner of Downtown Crossing restaurant Sa Pa Vietnamese Kitchen will open a new location in Cleveland Circle in Brighton this spring, according to the owner.
The restaurant will launch its second location at the former home of Bangkok Bistro at 1952 Beacon St.. Bangkok Bistro vacated Beacon Street early this year and eventually relocated in September to a new site at 433 Washington St.
Owner Ky Nguyen said that he found the location and decided to jump on it, given it’s high traffic area with a large number of college students.
Signs were recently posted on the windows of the Beacon Street restaurant, indicating that it will open in spring 2014. Nguyen said that an opening date has yet to be set.
Sa Pa’s first location on Bedford Street opened in February. "It’s been well-received, and we have a lot of regulars," said Nguyen. "The idea is to make Vietnamese flavor more accessible to the general population, and it’s in a quick, easy format."
Sa Pa is the second restaurant venture for the Vietnamese-born Nguyen, who opened Kingston Station in Downtown Crossing on Kingston Street in 2007.
Kingston Station’s head chef Dana Love teamed up with Nguyen to create the menu for Sa Pa, which focuses on pho, banh mi sandwiches and burritos and noodle bowls.
The Beacon Street site will be the first restaurant location outside of the Downtown Crossing area for Nguyen.
No other locations are currently in the works, he said. "It could possibly be a chain, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself. If It’s just two successful restaurants, I’d be happy."
