Quincy-based affordable housing developer NeighborWorks Southern Mass and Kingston-based Housing Solutions for Southeastern Massachusetts are merging into one organization, NeighborWorks Housing Solutions, effective July 1, 2019, the firms said in a statement Tuesday.

The organization will expand services across all of the South Shore, with the aim of serving more people and helping to address the state’s affordable housing crisis by developing more affordable housing units, like Quincy’s The Watson, Marshfield Home for Veterans, the Holbrook Center Senior Housing and a new 48 modern residence/boutique commercial space being built soon in Brockton.

Together, NeighborWorks Housing Solutions will manage a combined 800 units of housing around Southeastern Massachusetts and provide increased services to individuals and families through a variety of economic advancement programs. Wells Fargo is awarding $250,000 to NeighborWorks Housing Solutions to support the merger and enable the organization to provide more individuals and families with success in securing and maintaining a safe, affordable home in an opportunity-rich community.

For the past two years, NeighborWorks Southern Mass and Housing Solutions for Southeastern Massachusetts have been in a process of due diligence towards the merger. In the fall of 2018, the boards of directors of both organizations voted unanimously for the merger to move forward.

“We have been partnering directly with Housing Solutions for the past eight years. After careful consideration with our boards we realized the most sustainable way to keep moving our missions forward is together,” Robert Corley, incoming CEO of NeighborWorks Housing Solutions, said in a statement.

“NeighborWorks Southern Mass has been an outstanding partner to the city who understands the true value of home-ownership and affordable housing opportunities for its citizens. I am very pleased to see this local partnership become even stronger as they merge with Housing Solutions who shares their vision and expertise in helping local families,” Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter said in a statement.
