Weymouth-based South Shore Bank is launching a new brand and has brought on a marketing executive from the media industry to lead the campaign.
South Shore Bank has hired former Boston Globe Media Partners vice president Jane Bowman as its chief marketing officer. The bank said in a statement that Bowman has “extensive marketing experience and an impactful record of leading dynamic marketing and advertising campaigns that strengthen brands, generate new revenues and inspire consumer confidence.”
In addition to overseeing the bank’s marketing, advertising and communications teams, Bowman will lead a rebranding effort. The new brand, “Sharing Success,” is inspired by the bank’s performance providing Paycheck Protection Program loans, the bank said in its statement, as well as the launch of its South Shore Bank Community Fund, which the bank established using PPP proceeds to help people struggling with rent and mortgage payments due to the pandemic.
“Jane is a welcome addition to lead our marketing and communications teams,” Pam O’Leary, South Shore Bank’s chief operating officer, said in the statement. “We look forward to Jane bringing her wealth of knowledge and experience to help our bank best market our services and tell the story of our commitment to the communities in which we do business.”
Bowman will sit on the bank’s marketing committee and will report directly to O’Leary.
“I’m thrilled to join South Shore Bank at such a pivotal time in its growth,” Bowman said. “To be part of an organization that lives its brand promise of Sharing Success in giving back to our community is truly a marketer’s dream role.”
Bowman spent more than 12 years at The Boston Globe, most recently as vice president of marketing and strategic partnerships for Boston Globe Media Partners, where she developed new consumer and business initiatives across all platforms as well as partnerships for The Boston Globe and Boston.com. Before that, she was vice president of marketing and research for Comcast Spotlight’s Northeast Division, focusing on planning and development to support the advertising sales business.
Bowman is a fellow of the Betsy Magness Leadership Institute and has been on the board of the AdClub of Boston, Big Sister Association of Greater Boston, and The Globe Foundation.
