TJX Cos. plans to reopen all 1,600 of its stores nationwide, as soon as local government regulations allow.

The Framingham-based company made the declaration in its quarterly earnings report, and noted it has seen resumed demand from customers.

TJX has reopened 1,100 of its stores so far, plus its four e-commerce websites in the United States and United Kingdom, and expects to be fully reopened at the end of June. Its stores across America had been closed starting in mid-March. The company operates scores of stores in Massachusetts and its TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Marshalls, Sierra and HomeSense brands are a staple of many retail properties statewide.

“Although it’s still early and the retail environment remains uncertain, we have been encouraged with the very strong sales we have seen with our initial reopenings. We believe this very strong start speaks to our compelling value proposition and the appeal of our treasure-hunt shopping experience, as well as pent-up demand,” CEO Ernie Herrman said in a statement. “With our flexible business model and ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions and customer preferences, we will be pursuing these buying opportunities. Above all, we are convinced that our mission to deliver great value to consumers every day will continue to be our enduring retail formula today and in the future.”

The company is requiring all store employees and customers to wear masks in its stores, and is giving masks and gloves to workers. The company plans to clean its stores more frequently, particularly high-touch areas like PIN pads and shopping carts, install Plexiglas shields at registers, limit store capacity and close fitting rooms in the U.S., among other precautions.
