Ryan Coleman

A top aide to Gov. Charlie Baker is moving into the private sector to become the chief lobbyist for a major Boston office developer.

Ryan Coleman will be director of government relations at The Fallon Co., the firm behind the Seaport District’s pioneering Fan Pier development cluster. Coleman was Baker’s chief secretary for the last three years and had worked for the governor in various capacities since 2015.

“We are thrilled to have Ryan, who brings more than a decade of experience in local, state and federal government relations, on our team,” company President Michael Fallon said in a statement. “Understanding the needs and priorities of the communities where we work and live is important, and that starts with our partners in government.”

At the same time, the company is also hiring away a New England Development executive to lead its own development efforts.

Michael Barelli will be Fallon’s managing director of development. Barelli was most recently a vice president at New England Development overseeing its Boston projects, and also has experience working on private developments in New York City.
