MassDevelopment is providing $71,400 in grants through the Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) Places program.

TDI Places is a placemaking program that supports small-scale and short-term projects in gateway cities, such as temporary pocket parks, pop-up stores, community gardens and farmers markets.

“Placemaking projects such as farmers markets, parklets and art installations are small efforts that make a big impact in the commonwealth’s urban centers,“ MassDevelopment President and CEO Marty Jones said in a statement.

Projects in Chicopee, Haverill, Holyoke, New Bedford, Peabody and Salem will receive funding through the grants. Brockton, Fitchburg, Lawrence, Leominster, Springfield, Westfield and Worcester will receive smaller grants and technical assistance to help complete their projects.
