The Boston Wax Museum has signed a lease for a new exhibition space in downtown Boston.

The museum, run by Dreams Entertainment Group of Brazil, has taken 16,516 square feet at One Washington Mall from The Georgetown Co. of New York. The museum will occupy both street-level space and a lower level.

The wax museum will feature milestone moments in American history as well as wax figures of popular icons from the past and present

The museum will be situated along The Freedom Trail and will be the first of its kind in Boston.

Although an opening day has yet to be determined, the museum plans to occupy the space at the end of the year and hopes to open in time for Boston’s 2016 summer tourist season.

“We are delighted to welcome the Boston Wax Museum to the city,” the museum’s Economic Development Chief John Barros said in a statement. “Boston is so fortunate to have a wealth of eclectic cultural offerings that complement our rich history. The addition of a wax museum

featuring past and present scenes will serve as a great venue to showcase that wonderful mix.”

CBRE/NE’s Jeremy Grossman and Jeff Arsenault represented the landlord in the transaction, while SVN|Parsons Commercial Group’s Marci Alvarado and Jake Parsons represented the tenant.
