Westmass CEO, Ludlow Mills Developer Dead at 61

The Ludlow Mills redevelopment, spearheaded by Eric Nelson, was one of the state's largest brownfields remediation projects.

The CEO of Westmass Area Development Corporation, the Chicopee-based business development nonprofit, died suddenly last week.

Eric Nelson was 61 and had worked at Westmass since 2011, MassLive reports.

Prior to his time leading economic development efforts in Western Massachusetts, Nelson was an accomplished landscape architect and developer, who redeveloped the Ludlow Mills complex in one of the state’s largest-ever brownfields revitalizations.
