Construction has begun on Benchmark Senior Living at Norwood, a 90-unit residential complex in Norwood.

The property is Wellesley-based Benchmark Senior Living’s 53rd community. The $34.5 million complex will contain 70 assisted-living units and 20 secured residences for those needing memory care. The residential complex will employ 70 people. Benchmark has developed 51 senior communities in the Northeast including 24 in Massachusetts.

Norwood Selectmen Chairman Paul Bishop, Benchmark CEO Tom Grape and Benchmark Chief Operating Officer Stephanie Handelson attended a groundbreaking ceremony this week.
