Quincy-based Arbella Insurance Group has appointment two new members to its board of directors.
Joseph G. Murphy, former Massachusetts commissioner of insurance, and Brian O’Dwyer, senior partner at O’Dwyer & Bernstein LLP, have joined the agency’s board.
As Massachusetts’ insurance commissioner from 2010 to 2014, Murphy played an active role in the implementation of auto insurance reform, stabilizing health insurance costs for individuals and small businesses and ensuring the solvency of Massachusetts-based insurers. Prior to that appointment, Murphy was first deputy commissioner, with oversight of the day-to-day operations of the division.
O’Dwyer has more than 40 years of experience in labor relations, employee benefits, personal injury and general litigation. O’Dwyer founded the Emerald Isle Immigration Center, which is the largest Irish immigrant center and advocacy group in the United States and has worked extensively in the political arena, concentrating largely on promoting Irish and Irish-American interests.
Established in 1988, the Arbella Insurance Group was established in 1988 and has more than $700 million in revenue with approximately $1.3 billion in assets.
