Boston-based Trinity Financial has been selected to redevelop the 250,000-square-foot former Worcester County courthouse building with 125 units of mixed-income housing.
Trinity has proposed a mix of half market-rate units and half workforce housing in the Greek Revival building, the original portion of which was constructed in 1843.
Trinity expects to fund the $53-million project with a mix of sources including private equity and historic tax credits, according to a press release. Construction is projected to take place from fall 2018 through summer 2020, bolstering Worcester’s efforts to revitalize the Lincoln Square and northern end of Main Street.
Trinity Financial has selected The Architectural Team of Chelsea as architect and VHB as historic consultant. Trinity Management will serve as the property manager.
The property has been vacant for a decade and was acquired by the city of Worcester in 2014.
