A local developer has been granted approval to build a 55-plus adult condominium complex in Topsfield.
C.P. Berry Construction Co. plans to build English Commons at Topsfield, a 55-plus, 50 home active-adult condo community on a 68 ½ acre parcel in Topsfield.
The property is located off Boston Street, which is designated as a scenic overlay district by the town. This development will preserve more than 50 acres (70 percent of the parcel) as untouched open space, according to a statement.
Two floor plans, ranging in size from 2,100 to nearly 4,000 square feet, are being offered. The community will feature a clubhouse and numerous recreational amenities, including a fitness center and heated swimming pool. Extensive landscaping and a center common green with a large gazebo and walking paths are also planned.
"English Commons will have design features C.P. Berry Homes is know for, including preservation of open space, environmentally-friendly design and building practices, and the creation of a community that Topsfield residents can be proud to have located within the town’s borders," said Alan Berry, vice president.
Ground-breaking at the English Common at Topsfield site will be underway soon, and it is anticipated that model homes will be ready for viewing late spring 2010. The first homes will be ready for occupancy in the early summer of 2010, according to a statement.
