An engineering company that is developing an air taxi powered by hydrogen is opening new offices in downtown Maynard.
Alaka’i Technologies leased 18,473 square feet at the 1.1 million-square-foot Mill & Main complex.
In 2018, Alaka’i announced plans for a hydrogen fuel-cell powered aircraft that it bills as a new commuting option. Stow-based Alaka’i did not return a message about whether the lease represents an expansion or relocation.
“Maynard is the ideal community to support our employees and growing business. We look forward to being a long-term local company that will provide jobs, economic growth, and sustainability initiatives.” Alaka’i Technologies Chief Operating Officer Bill Spellane said in a statement.
Trevor Holmes and Garrett Quinn of SVN | Parsons Commercial Group represented Alaka’i Technologies in the transaction. James Tambone of Lincoln Property Co. represented the landlord, AS Clocktower LLC.
Mill & Main, the former Digital Equipment Corp. headquarters, contains eight buildings totaling 1.1 million square feet.
