The former Alexandra Hotel property has been acquired by developers planning a 150-room hotel.
Alexandra Partners paid $11 million in July for 1767-1769 Washington St., which received final approval by the Boston zoning board of appeals last week for the redevelopment.
The developers plan to restore the historic facade of the 1875 Gothic-style building, while demolishing the existing building and building an addition on a neighboring 2,858-square-foot lot.
Colliers Boston’s Christopher Sower represented the seller.
“This approval from the Boston ZBA reinforces what we have heard from Roxbury and South End neighbors and abutters at every stage of our planning process, that Boston wants to see a rebirth for a building that has been standing vacant for decades as a neighborhood eyesore,” Thomas Calus, principal and founder of TCR Development, said in a statement.
The Church of Scientology’s legal counsel for the sale of the Alexandra and the redevelopment of the Church’s Lincoln Street property was David Suny and Michael McCormack of McCormack Suny LLC.
This report has been updated to correct the date and purchase price for the property.
